1945 Niepoort, 60% opaque, red. Wonderful mature VP, still with structure. Mint and cherry, though fruit fading. Fabulous. Widely acclaimed, and overwhelmingly voted, WOTN.

Dirk Niepoort quoted the pH as 4.2.

Thanks Julian, for preparing the review:

Yes this was an amazing wine. Dirk always said that his 45 is the best 45 there is and now I do believe him. Fully alive and up to everything, this wine is still somewhat youthful. The best port to compare this with is the 63 NN.

I rated it top score.
