This was a revelation to me. Not at all the sweet, sticky drink that I was expecting. Very austere and dry. This obviously need to mature in the bottle; perhaps about 5 years to bring it to peak condition.

Bottled 2009. Pale orange colour, 5% opaque with a faint green rim. Lots of VA and pear on the nose. Thick texture, with honey and almond paste on the palate. Patience in the mouth brings oranges and clover. The lingering aftertaste, covers the mouth - but the VA always shows. 87/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
