1960 Fonseca vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Rich red in colour; 60% opaque. Fresh and grassy on the nose, with lots of cranberries. Rich and sweet impact with the acidity partly hidden behind the rich fruit; impressive depth of flavours. There is a touch of heat on swallowing, but this precedes a long finish, full of chocolate and sweet aniseed. Really tasty port. 91/100. Drunk 24 September 2010.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

F60: bad lighting prevented a note of appearance. Hot, medium wight, with 15 minutes becoming very sweet, uncomplicated, but extremely long.

My ranking was ‟F60 > G63 > G77 > T63”.
