1963 Quinta do Noval vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Very pale, almost no colour at all, pure pale orange. The nose was strange, mostly volatile shoe polish. Sweet initial impact and a much better palate than was expected. Pure tertiary flavours, with a great acidity balancing out a coffee and orange peel flavour. Actually more interesting that initial expectations. Quite thick in texture. SOme heat on the aftertaste, which changes into a long and luxuriant finish of rich orange peel. 91/100. Drunk 27 September 2010.

Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

N63, bottled by Tanners. Pink-0orange, 10% opacity. Nosing of varnish sweetness. To taste rather ethereal and faded. Too light.

I think you have confused this with the GC70. The N63 was Oporto bottled. I know because I donated both bottles.

Having fished my notes from the bin, I can confirm that they were:
• Correctly typed into ThePortForum;
• Incorrectly written.

Apologies.
