1991 Fonseca Quinta do Panascal Vintage Port

On decanting , dark purple no nose .
5 hours : slight colour change , scent same as on opening .
12 hours :no improvement on nose .
Was this guy meant to improve ? Who nose . . .

I'm not having much fun with any ports from about 1991-2000 at the moment. While I accept that this is a huge generalisation, my working assumption is that wines from this period - with notable exceptions of 94-96 are somewhat closed and not very enjoyable.

Anything from 91/92 or from 97-00 is currently off limits from my corkscrew. All others - beware!

I think the Taylors Vargellas 1991 , which I tasted a few months ago would be an exception .
It opened up after 9 hours decanting . Yum !

The Vargellas 1995 also seemed to be opening up nicely, but maybe that's a bit of an earlier maturing vintage.
