Dirk has just entered the market with a Crusted, which is extremely worth to look at.
Bottled in 2007 this port is on a fairly good single quinta vp-standard. Dark violett with very good purple reflections. Strong fruit with underlining tannins and acidity. Very seducive to drink now but worth laying down for a couple of years.

Re: Crusted Niepoort
Do you know what price-range this is aimed at? There's not much of a gap between their LBV prices (which are quite high) and their VP prices (which, I think, are quite low).

Re: Crusted Niepoort
No idea about the UK-price, but somewhere around 20% more than their LBV at least in GER. Worth every penny though.

I posted this TN from the New Douro Tasting in London recently.
Axel, do you mind if I add "2007" to the title of this thread so that it appears in the correct place in the TN Index?

Re: Crusted Niepoort
I hope that equates to less than £20 a bottle, rather than less than £25...Axel P wrote:No idea about the UK-price, but somewhere around 20% more than their LBV at least in GER. Worth every penny though.
Opps...didn’t see that, otherwise would have asked the same question of you!DRT wrote:I posted this TN from the New Douro Tasting in London recently.
Re: Crusted Niepoort
I didn't ask the cost so I don't know. I would think £20 would be about right.

Re: Crusted Niepoort
That may be true in the UK, but certainly not in the Netherlands! Their LBV's are around 16-17 euro, while new vintages are usually put in the market between 55 and 65 euro.JacobH wrote:Do you know what price-range this is aimed at?
