Dark purple - raw nose - extremely young. Good balance of acidity/fruit/tannin.

I have to confess that I knew what this was before it was poured.

It was a cask sample from the 2010 vintage.

Since I now assume we are playing ‟20 questions”: Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo or Douro Superior?

A cask sample bottled 3 days after the fermentation had been stopped through the addition of aguardente. The half bottle took 4 filter papers for decanting due to the huge amout of fine sediment in the wine.

Vivid purple in colour. Big and tannic with bags of fruit, lively and spicy. Very aggressive and drying with lots of layers of flavour to enjoy. A good aftertaste once the tannins have faded away and a lovely aniseed finish. Not rated due to the age of the wine, but really enjoyable to drink now!

I'm keeping the name of the producer out of the spotlight in case it went against IVDP rules for me to be given this bottle so early in its life.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I have no recollection of this whatsoever.

I have just written to somebody, asking whether I may post my TN of my half bottle of this fine juice.

Nonetheless, I am hoping that it went against IVDP rules.
