Thursday March 10th, Crusting Pipe, London

Organise events to meet up and drink Port. You may, of course, forego the drinking and just meet, but we're sure that drinking would be more fun.

Julian - draft tasting mats reviewed.

Please include the sticky labels - these were very useful last time (even if I did get a little confused with the best way to use them after having consumed half a bottle of F77).

Please add THRA to the place mats, although this may make the layout of the pages slightly more difficult.

As ever, thank you very much for producing these.

Updated draft of the placemats.
  • +THRA.
If somebody drops out I’ll replace with the “(?)”.

Updated draft of the placemats.
  • +CSD, so now three glasses sheets.
For the sake of portion sizes you should consider closing the tasting to newcomers.

Wolfgang, Rob,

Please let me know asap if you will be at TCP on Thursday. I need to know as the office will only hold 6 and if all the potential participants turn up, we will be 7.

In case there are further latecomers, I may change from 2 half bottles to a full bottle. Any thoughts?

i can confirm. I am reasonably ambivalent as to whether we go for half or full bottles so will let others decide.

If we were going for full bottles i might swap the "value vp/daily drinker" i had planned for the half theme for something with a bit more pedigree.

Wolfgang - if we stick with halves, it would be great to take up your offer of adopting the one half you had in mind.

sorry - re-read the thread more carefully and now see what the dilemma is.

would prefer to move to full bottles than close off the list to late arrivers just yet

On the other hand, Chris is unsure and this offline has been in the diary for long enough that chances of a late attendee are slim.

would suggest sticking to halves if no one else has put their hand up by 5.00 p.m. tomorrow? or is that too late for others to plan?

i will have time (and would be more than happy) to take over tasting mat duties from Julian if required, so that should not be a driving concern

Yes.

The Manual wrote:the default parameters fit Ryman product 0220013460 (containing 25 sheets, or equivalently the 100-sheet pack 0220023460), having on each A4 sheet eight labels, each 99mm×68mm.

Cookie and I will be on full bottles, as we are acutely short of halves..

I am taking the decision for everyone to switch to full bottles so as to ensure portion sizes are not compromised.

I may be bringing a guest (KD, right handed) but will not be able to confirm until tomorrow.

I will contact TCP later tonight to switch from the Office to a larger table in the tunnels.

Unfortunately, with every hour that passes at the tasting I will be around 95 miles further away from all that lovely Port :crying:

Sorry, Officer, did I say 95 miles? Clearly I meant no more than 70.

Good decision.

If we remain at 8/9 attendees, i may take the liberty of asking my brother as well - he enjoyed the tasting when Oscar visited. And I have a good bottle for him to adopt. (MCC, though i suspect a "?" would do as I am not certain he will be available - sorry to be a pain).

Updated draft of the placemats.
  • +KD; +MCC.
  • +“?”; +“??”.
  • One bottle each.
  • “Port Worth Sharing”.
  • Please check carefully.
I will probably be able to update at about noon UK time, Thursday.
