Re: 1991 Dow vintage port
Bottle stink as this was unfortunately decanted too late (I was inebriated from the day before)
bottle stink on the nose that never quite went away.
Condensed milk and spicy plum lurking next to the bottle stink.
It's full rich and lush on the mouth, but lacking true describable fruit. I tasted alot of dark chocolate and tried to coax some fruit out but wasn't really able to.
I gave it a 89, but this clearly should have gotten alot more decant time then I gave it.

Lamont:
1991 (1+hrs)
Dark burgundy. Somewhat strange nose on this one too but different than the '85. It has a smokey, mushroomy funk to it that's really odd along with dark fruit and root beer notes intermingling. The palate is smooth, with tasty dark fruit and flavors similar to those on the nose. There's also some noticable heat popping out that leads into a fairly long finish. I found this to be the weakest showing of the night (and yet still an enjoyable drink) and was probably not representative as I've had this once before and liked it much more. A longer decant might have helped blow off some of the funk and alcohol. 88 pts
