Deep red, crimson rim; opaque. Cinammon spiced black cherry on the nose, lively and attractive. Medium bodied entry, plenty of dry cherry flavours and copious soft tannins. Pleasant development and delicious layering of fruit flavour. Dry cherry stone aftertaste and a 90 second finsh of sour cherry. Lovely port and a great Ruby Reserve to have on hand.
This was bought by the glass from one of Harvey Nichols' restaurants, where it was a very welcome item on the menu! Having observed other tables during the meal it seems the risk of this port is that it is served on a pop 'n' pour basis and has had no decanting, not that it has been sitting in the decanter deteriorating for weeks.

Re: NV Noval Black
Drinking this one tonight. I think the sour cherry is bang on. I detect a little heat on the finish having popped and poured. Should mellow by tomorrow.
