Pitch black, completely opaque - very youthful. Blueberries and violets all over the nose. Pure blackcurrants on the entry, and a fabulous satin body. Tannins are powerful but hidden behind the huge and powerful fruit. A dry core, but with an incredible level of perfume in the falvour profile. Violets all over the finish, which is long and powerful. This is a stunning wine with an incredible finish. Guessed to be Taylor 1994. 94/100. No decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Very dark. Very austere on the nose. More fruity in the mouth and somewhat rounded. Good tannins. Nice.

In complete contrast to the 2003 Colmaca, and whilst still incredibly youthful, this was (to use a Chris D catchprase) "open for business" and in an exciting youthful phase. Violet bouquet and silky feel had me convinced this was a young Vesuvio.
Just about the only '03 I have had over the last 12 months and really enjoyed drinking (though I have not had many...)
