2009 Dow Bomfim

Post by jdaw1 »

Tasted at The Big Fortified Tasting, a trade fair in London at Glaziers Hall on Wed 06 April 2011 (Review thread, containing links to other tasting notes). This being a large trade-fair event, tasting notes generally brief.

DB09, not for release for a decade or so. A wonderful flavour of flowers and violets.

Cask Sample 1 2009 VP
Dense black cherries on the nose. Very dry in the mouth, but perhaps a touch sweeter than I expected. I see that there could be attraction in this but this style is not entirely to my liking.

Cask sample. Floral nose, clearly young port. Elegant fruit with great purity of flavour, sweet and ripe. Tannins are soft and resolve quickly leaving huge levels of fruit. A lovely, chewy finish of great length; so much fruit. Wonderful. 89-91.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
