2005 Sandeman LBV

Post by jdaw1 »

Tasted at The Big Fortified Tasting, a trade fair in London at Glaziers Hall on Wed 06 April 2011 (Review thread, containing links to other tasting notes). This being a large trade-fair event, tasting notes generally brief.

2005 Sandeman LBV. Bigger than the 2005 Offley LBV. Plums. Soft still, but big heat mid-palate.

Sandeman 2005 LBV
Some fruit in the mouth, with strong tannins. Preferred to the Offley LBV.

Bottled 2009. Big in the mouth, full of fruit and tannins; a big wine. Huge, mouthfilling finish, full of dark fruit and dark chocolate. Very impressive. Much better than would be expected from a standard LBV. 92/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
