2006 Sandeman LBV

Post by jdaw1 »

Tasted at The Big Fortified Tasting, a trade fair in London at Glaziers Hall on Wed 06 April 2011 (Review thread, containing links to other tasting notes). This being a large trade-fair event, tasting notes generally brief.

2006 Sandeman LBV. Rough throughout the palate. Not a patch on the 2005 Sandeman LBV.

Bottled 2010. 90% opaque, youthful red colour. Open and attractive on the nose, driven by pure fruit smells. Subdued fruit on the impact and powerful tannins which seem slightly green and astringent. Tannins dominate the palate. The finish is dry, tannin dominated and with modest levels of fruit. A decent LBV. 86/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
