2004 Quinta do Infantado

Post by jdaw1 »

Tasted at The Big Fortified Tasting, a trade fair in London at Glaziers Hall on Wed 06 April 2011 (Review thread, containing links to other tasting notes). This being a large trade-fair event, tasting notes generally brief.

I04. Red-purple, 90% opaque. Cherry fruit. Medium length. Lots of roughness throughout palate. Apparently £28ish retail.

Quinta do Infantado 2004 VP
Some soft alcohol on the nose. Big fruits and round tannins in the mouth. Lovely spicy aftertaste.

Pitch black colour, opaque. Sweet lilacs on the nose. Sweet, fruity entry, full of whitecurrant and bramble backed by some astringent green tannins. Silky structure. Dry aftertaste and a spicy finish full of black jelly babies. Very chewy, but a little green. 84/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
