1955 Quinta do Noval vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From a rewaxed bottle, with a mid-shoulder fill. Deep ochre in colour, clearly mature, 40% opaque. A nose of orange and marzipan. Thick texture, full bodied and rich on the palate; nutmeg and cinnamon over a deep, sweet grapefruit acidity. Big aftertaste of black treacle and burnt sugar. Delicious to drink, fireside sipping port. 91/100. Drunk 29 April 2011 after 2½ hours decant.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
