1998 Fonseca Guimaraens Panascal

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Shown at the Big Fortified tasting on April 6 2011.

Mid red in colour, 80% opaque. Some bottle stink on the nose - restrained cabbage. Fruit is restrained but a little light; light bodied, soft fruit, gentle tannin, soft acidity. Lovely red fruit aftertaste which fades to a licorice finish. Disappointing finish. 82/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
