1970 Cockburn

Post by DRT »

Consumed at the Crusting Pipe on 16 May 2011.

Organisation thread.
Review thread.
Croft 1970 (JDAW)
Smith Woodhouse Madalena 1988 (DRT)
Quevedo 20 Year Tawny (OJMQ)
Fonseca 1985 (CMAG)
Croft 1963 (RAYC)
Cockburn 1970 (THRA)
Gould Campbell 1977 (RAYC)
Taylor 1980 (Team)

Contributed by THRA: Dark red but quite obviously older than the colour would suggest. Closed nose, powdery tannins with dark cherry on the palate and a short finish. I guessed Offley 1966. Oscar thought this to be slightly corked.

C70. Red, 60% opaque. Very sweet and rich red. Fruit I like strawberry throughout. Ending much drier than start. Spice mid-palate.

I thought Graham ’70; others said Offley ’66; Offley ’70; Croft ’77.
