NV Graham Tawny (The Emperor)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled around 1975-1980 and sealed with a screw cap. Decanted off a little sludgy sediment. The colour of burnt sugar, green on the rim. Very little on the nose, perhaps some fresh-cut grass. Toffee apples on the palate, but with a nice core of ripe apple acidity. Decent range of flavours on the palate. Long finish of burnt sugar and hard toffee. Not a bad port, and a pleasant glass - perhaps two - for the evening. 81/100. Drunk 31 May 2011 after 24 hours of decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
