1958 Quinta do Noval Nacional
1958 Quinta do Noval Nacional
In the glass this wine was a pale red which lightened quite a bit near the rim. The nose was full of plums and I also noticed some spice in the background. It was quite an interesting mix and a little unusual for a Port. The flavor profile was a combination of dark red fruits, berries and a strong citrus streak. The finish brought out some dark chocolate notes and was moderate in length and very elegant. I very much enjoyed the mature qualities of this wine and would think that it still has a few years ahead of it. 94 points.

NN58 is not often seen. Please say more of the provenance.

First NN63 and now NN58. What has been the occasion?

My previous form at domestic decadence wasn’t shameful, but is dwarfed by this. Please say more.AHB wrote:What has been the occasion?
Re: 1958 Quinta do Noval Nacional
A couple of months ago I participated in a Noval Nacional vertical that spanned the years 1958 to present. I have just gotten around to posting the notes from that tasting and there are many more to come. I sourced the 1958 Noval Nacional from a local collector who has assembled a world-class wine cellar. As a result the provenance was perfect. It was decanted an hour before serving which seemed to be optimal. If it had been decanted any longer I believe that some of the more delicate notes might of been lost and the wine would of lost a bit of its character.
