1985 Churchill vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The first bottle from a case taken out of storage with BBR. Deep red incolour, showing early maturity on the rim. Lots of cherries and bramble fruit on the nose, perhaps with a hint of VA. Mild acid on the tongue, generous fruit with lots of black brambles; generous flavours, very mild tannins. Juicy palate. Lovely fruit-dominated aftertaste and a long, full finish. Very drinkable port, drinking very nicely now and not looking at though it will fade any time soon. 89/100. Tasted 18 October 2011 after 24 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
