2000 Quinta do Noval vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Ex-cellars. Deep red, solid centre and solid rim - but perhaps showing slightly more evolved in colour than the Silval 2000. Subdued on the nose compared to the Silval, but fruit dominated and attractive. Hollow entry, but the fruit shows through on the mid-palate and battles witht he firm tannins. The fruit eventually wins the battle as the tannins fade away and allows the strong acidity to take over in support of the fruit. Delicious and chewy finish of long duration. A good candidate for leaving alone for another 3-5 years before popping a cork to see how this have developed. 90/100. Drunk 13 October 2011.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
