1977 Taylor
On Wednesday 30th November 2011, in honour of DRT’s presence in London, at The Steak Exchange EC2A 2EH, port was drunk. Links:
Re: 1977 Taylor
T77. Darkish red, 60% opaque. Restaurant nosing of pepper and cooked fat, so nose not noted. Taste big, with lots of red fruit. Heat mid palate, maybe early palate, right at the tip of the tongue. Very sweet, very long, lots of red fruit.

Very good port, drinking well now. Nice silky entry, a bit empty mid-palate (if i'm being critical) but a great long finish with attractive heat and spice. I was in a minority in finding this to be a light-medium port - even after several re-tastings and glass changes, i could not find the bigness that THRA, DRT and jdaw1 agreed on. **** (90-91)

Candy nose - big and full in the mouth - simply delicious and fabulous Port.
+2 hours - the finish seems to have fallen off a cliff!
