1977 Warre
On Wednesday 30th November 2011, in honour of DRT’s presence in London, at The Steak Exchange EC2A 2EH, port was drunk. Links:
Re: 1977 Warre
W77. Red, 50% opaque. Restaurant nosing of pepper and cooked fat, so nose of port not noted. Very smooth and velvety start. Heat mid-palate, but rather light late palate making for a weak finish. DRT rightly said ‟woodiness”.
Re: 1977 Warre
Very good - improved markedly in glass as evening progressed, nice elegance, solid maturity, but the finish just a little wanting. This seems to me to be a dependable port that is probably at or around its peak potential now. *** (89)

Some stink on the nose - cherry sweetness with good weight but a little woodiness. Perhaps needs time in the glass?
+2 hours - much bigger with lots of dark fruit - delicious Port.
