1977 Taylor

Mid red colour, mature looking; 30% opaque. Attractive nose, of blood oranges and cranberries. Medium bodied, fruit and tannins balanced on entry. Chalky tannins balance nicely the generous growth in the fruit on the palate. Big finish, full of flavour of fruit and dark chocolate. Very attractive port. 90/100. Drunk 1 Dec 2011.

Two bottles tasted:

Bottle 1 was glorious, with an extraodinarily long finish of rich red licquorice that left the cheeks pleasantly tingling and mouth watering for more ***** (93)

Bottle 2 was rather unimpressive ** (84)

A third was opened late in the tasting, to which I think AHB's note above refers. I did not try it.
