Date/time: 6.30 on Tuesday 20 December
Location: TCP, Covent Garden
Attendees:
RAYC
jdaw1
[AHB - t.b.c.]
[Alex M. - t.b.c.]

Tunnel booked, special steaks ordered (for 3, with option of a fourth).

ORIGINAL POST
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone wanted to share a bottle of port or two in London on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of the final week before Xmas (19th/20th/21st), I would certainly be keen and know of at least one other TPF member who might be thirsty.

Nothing fancy - i will enquire with TCP if there's some take-up.

I still have not furnished my flat so plenty of space available if anyone based outside London needs a place to stay.

I can't make Monday but could be persuaded to be in London on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Good stuff - though if it turns out to be just us, perhaps a Berkshire-based tasting might be more convenient for both!

I think AM's middle initial is J.

My +1 is as yet unconfirmed - like AHB, it will also be the weekend before i know for sure. The port will be adopted from me - pick one from the email i sent you if you like!

The two ports so far chosen have a common feature. Should we go with that mini-theme? Or should we add variety by avoiding it?

I think it would make a thoroughly acceptable mini-theme! :nirvana:

Particularly if AHB is about to enter a port desert!

But that need not influence AHB's and AJM's picks if they have other things in mind.

Let’s wait to see if your +1 confirms. If so, the decision is made.

There are a couple of bottles that spring to memory as candidates for 20th - Morgan 1991 or Sainsbury Taste the Difference 2003.

Or do you have something else in mind?

I intend to bring a recently acquired Dows 1983. My cellar is still rather small and I lack any ports from the 70's. I hope this is sufficient.

There is absolutely no need to worry about whether a Dow 83 is sufficient!!

I regret that I am not going to be able to be in London tomorrow night. My apologies, and if anyone has incurred a cost on my behalf then please let me know.

Instead, I will probably have to console myself with a glass of what is left of the Marks & Spencer Finest Reserve Ruby Port that is at home whilst you fortify yourselves with Dow, Taylor and Warre's finest.
