2009 Skeffington vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From a half bottle. Rich magenta colour, totally opaque. Sweet blueberry on the nose; sweet fruit initially on the palate, followed by a quick flash of serious acidity before settling down to a better balance of well behaved, slightly green tannins, violets and beautiful fruit with a dash of black chocolate. Fabulous aftertaste, long and full of Christmas pudding. Delicious port, full of baby-fruit. 90/100. Drunk 31 December 2011; pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
