1968 Graham Malvedos

Post by jdaw1 » 00:22 Wed 11 Jan 2012

In anticipation of a forthcoming Croft tasting in The Bunghole, 57 High Holborn, London WC1V 6DT, we thought that it might be a good idea for three of us to test the location. The trial run grew to six people, and was held in the larger room. Links:

My last bottle from a half case.

Evolved colour, ten years more than its age. Dried fruits with some strawberry. A little hot initially, but later it was very good drinking port with excellent length.

GM68 (originally ‘DRT’): decanted 11:00. Red-pink, 30% opaque. Nose has lots of strawberry and candy, also present in the taste, which had a thick unctuous texture. Heat mid-palate. Liked.

Doff hat to JacobH for a correct identification.

Red middle, fading to a light pink around the edge. Subtle light cherries on the nose. In the mouth nice Porty flavours. Slightly acidic when it first hits the tongue and perhaps slight coffee afterwards. Short aftertaste. Very good if not excellent.

Many thanks to DRT for bringing the last bottle of a rare wine for us to try.
