1996 Niepoort LBV

Postby jdaw1 » 23:23 Tue 10 Jan 2012

In anticipation of a forthcoming Croft tasting in The Bunghole, 57 High Holborn, London WC1V 6DT, we thought that it might be a good idea for three of us to test the location. The trial run grew to six people, and was held in the larger room. Links:

Too late in the evening to take a note.

This was a very solid port. I remember having it from 750ml bottles four or five years ago and it was much, much younger and bigger than this. But this half bottle was delicious - very good port.

Ni96 LBV (originally ‘—◊—’): pop-and-pour. Dark red, 70% opaque. Young. Mid-weight, with cranberries, and lots of sweetness late.

From a half bottle. Red middle, with a touch of orange on the edge. Good cherry flavour. Good value for its price.

Unfortunately, this was opened a bit late for a proper note!
