Wed 22nd Feb 2012, Jubilee

Organise events to meet up and drink Port. You may, of course, forego the drinking and just meet, but we're sure that drinking would be more fun.

Obviously the start time has been moved much earlier.

What was the line-up to this tasting? Was anything disqualified for want of connection?

From memory...

Croft Something - bottled in 1935(?) and I can't remember the Jubilee link
1952 Burmester Colheita - Coronation of HRH Queen Elizabeth II)
Monday's Investiture Port - Ruby Reserve (Taylor) bottled to commemorate the investiture of the Prince of Wales
1967 Martinez - Bottled to commemorate the Quad-centenary of the Silver Jubilee of Mary I, Queen of Scots
1970 Warre - Bottled to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Falkland Island Defense Force
1977 Gould Campbell - Bottled to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of HRH Queen Elizabeth II
1983 Factory House Blend - bottled to commemorate the Queen's visit that year
1991 Quinta de la Rosa - Bottled to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the invention of the Jubilee Clip.

As you can see there were no tenuous links and therefore no need for any disqualifications.

It would be fairer to say that the grapes happened to have been picked in the year of that golden jubilee.

Only if one wanted to be humourlessly pedantic.
