Cynthia's in town, what to do? (Mon 12 Mar 12)

Organise events to meet up and drink Port. You may, of course, forego the drinking and just meet, but we're sure that drinking would be more fun.

Cynthia's in town, what to do? (Mon 12 Mar 12)

Postby DRT » 20:37 Fri 09 Mar 2012

Cynthia contacted me this evening to let me know she will be in London on Monday evening. We are meeting for dinner and anyone here is welcome to join us.

I would suggest The Obvious Place at 18:30. Theme = Bring a bottle to share with Cynthia.

Volunteers?

[From here on are edits to first post]

Venue: The Obvious Place (The Bung Hole, Bung Hole or The Bunghole).

Time: 18:30 — but RLC will arrive two hours early and be available for beer in the pub across the road.

Theme: Bring a bottle of Port to share with Cynthia. To be served blind.

Attendees:

  • Cynthia
  • DRT
  • RLC
  • BMHR
  • AHB (Arriving at 7ish)
  • JDAW (late)
  • RAYC (late)
  • CMAG ("Will see what I can do. Should be able to make it.")

Splendid.

Incidentally, I picked-up you voice mail from last Wednesday when I got home this evening. I am sorry to report that I will be unable to meet you in London last Wednesday

Advise: while negotiating, avoid mentioning that a beautiful woman wants to get you drunk on Port.

Probably, but late. Happy to make placemats, but it shouldn’t be me who prints.

Notes:

RAYC will be there for at least part of the time.
BMHR advised by Glenn E not to mention beautiful women when asking for wifely permission. (presumably not limited to this thread)
JDAW will be there late and will make but cannot print placemats.

You guys are the best, I can't wait to see all of you! And this time I wil not be empty handed, though I will let Derek judge the state of the bottles and whether they should be opened or held for future tastings after a no doubt traumatic trip in my luggage. Have a great weekend, but go gently on the livers in anticipation of Monday night. Beijinhos!

Is it to be blind or not?
• If not, a particular type of extra information will be needed.
• If blind, how many copies of each name will be needed? (JDAW, just one.)

I'm probably in. Please prepare tasting mats on the assumption that I am, although I will be travelling in from Bracknell after work so will be unlikely to arrive until 7ish.

I might or might not be able to do so.

That is, of course, imperfectly helpful.

Typically that means that you will be verfy late, but will be there. I’ll keep your initials on the placemat.

Any sign of Cynthia’s middle letters?
