Cruz whie, costing €8.40 from Franprix

Golden colour, 10% opaque. Slightly off nose, with Sauternes apricot. DRT said ‟candle wax”, which was the off thing. Really very little flavour at all: this is a cocktail ingredient, even if not as good as Lidl’s Santelmo White.

Although we jest about Cruz, I actually thought this was quite a decent show for a standard white.

Perhaps a little too sweet for a cocktail ingredient, I thought it would probably show best served super cold over ice on a hot summer's evening.

From Franprix. Golden straw colour, 5% opaque. Barley-sugars and vanilla extract on the cloying nose. Hollow entry with little flavour on the palate but a reasonable balance between sweetness and acidity. Dried apricots show on the long finish, but these turn into an unpleasant waxiness. Not as bad as was expected. 69/100.

I didn't try this cold or mixed with tonic - perhaps I did not do it justice.
