Tue 17 April 2012, London

Organise events to meet up and drink Port. You may, of course, forego the drinking and just meet, but we're sure that drinking would be more fun.

One of my wife’s NY friends acquired a taste in Vinatge Port from me. She, Stephanie, is likely to be in London for the week of 16th to 21st April, and would really like to come to a tasting.

Who’s in? Theme? Usual location?

This was mentioned last night, and various F85-like themes were suggested. We’re not committed to that, but it might work. What do people want?

I'm probably in.

There was also some talk last night (from Rob) of a small '66 horizontal. We haven't had one of those since the mtrix tasting in October last year - nearly 6 months ago! Perhaps time to revisit the vintage? So far this year we've only drunk the Croft '66 (twice!)

Or our usual "bring a bottle to share"

1966 works for me. A splendid idea. (And happily demonstrating to passing Americans that we do drink young port.)

I have a Fonseca '66 available.

We should make sure that Rob is available - it would be rather cruel (perhaps even ironic?) if we were to follow up on his request on a night when he could not participate.

Regrettably, I am in Exeter for 3 days that week. Probably port free!

Rob suggested the 17th. No harm in checking, but I believe that it works for him.

F85, F66

F85, F66

F85, F66...

Yes, I think we're going to sacrifice the chance to drink a bottle of F85 :D

General practice has been to allow more poetic licence in brand names, particularly with respect to the omission of apostrophes. So this is tolerated.

Am I being too gentle?

Edit: £125 per bottle.

Expensive, but probably not too far out these days! I am more than happy to contribute, particularly since my Croft was acquired cheaply. (credit due at this point to THRA!)

We may have one or two others joining us - we are some time from having to make a decision about purchase of any other bottles.

Remember, this is a small 1966 offline to demonstrate that we on this side of the Pond can also drink young port.

Hi,

if there is still space I would like to join. As a contribution I have Noval or Sandeman 1966 in mind, whichever i find first :roll: :)
Hope this is acceptable.

WS: pls bring Noval.

My Dow has been ‘stolen’, so I’m buying the Taylor. Please could we have a summary: who is bringing what? Currently it seems to be:
  • Croft, RAYC;
  • Warre, JDAW & STG;
  • Fonseca, AHB;
  • Taylor, JDAW & STG;
  • Graham, DRT;
  • Quinta do Noval, WS.
Is this correct?

Current draft of the placemats, consistent with this post.
