Df85, dark red, 50% opaque. Nose had tobacco and cedar. Taste sweet, heat late-plate. A different style to the older ports.

A marked change in colour between this relatively dark 1985 and the older vintages shown alongside. Deep red, 50% opaque and still looking a little youthful. A bit smelly on the nose and surprisingly youthful. Youthful, unknitted impact, lots of acidity but surprisingly resolved tannins. The fruit comes through strongly but late on the palate. Surprisingly light overall. 84/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Good red middle, fading to pink. Completely clear. Good eucalyptus/spearmint and tobacco on the nose. Perhaps some cut grass. Good fruit in the mouth, though still with that initial hit of sugar. Longish aftertaste. Some rounded tannins on the top of the mouth. Some mint, too. Will be very good in a few more years.
