In honour of the visit of Ronnie Roots, a few regulars gathered in The Bung Hole to sample some 1970 ports.

Re: 1970 Offley Boa Vista
Mid-red colour, pink rim. Sweet strawberry nose and some eucalyptus. Lightweight entry, light bodied, delicately flavoured with the fruit growing on the palate. Dry aftertaste and finish, plenty of fruit but very dry. Good length, although a little light. 85/100. 7 hour decant.

Re: 1970 Offley Boa Vista
Another port that's best summarised by the word "light". Light pink / orange colour, and light on the nose, which does show some lovely rose aromas. Light fruit on the palate, strawberry and raspberry. Some leather and tobacco. Slightly simple, but the flavours and aromas are all very attractive and it is a lovely drinking port. Well enjoyed.

OBV70, decanted noon. Pink and brown, 20% opaque. Light nose: roses? Strawberry. Taste started dried-out, with heat mid-palate. Some floral notes. Drink up.
