1956 Niepoort Experimental
On the Wednesday before the 2012 Olympics we were guests of His Excellency Dr João de Vallera, the Portuguese Ambassador to the Court of St James, at his official residence, wherein we had two bottles of Port from each summer-Olympic year, 1948 to 2008.

RHS bottle (THRA, RAYC, jdaw1): fragrant and remarkably fresh nose, sweet but still interesting, lovely *** 89-90

LHS bottle (WS1, OQ, DRT): (from a taste of WS1's wine) Now we're really talking - sweet candied fruit with nice acidic bite, great complexity - other bottle now seems dull by comparison **** (92)

Ni56‘e’ (mine): 30% opaque, red-brown. Rather dried out, hot, but interesting.

Ni56‘e’ (other): better, richer and sweeter.
