1976 Taylor Quinta de Vargellas

Post by jdaw1 »

On the Wednesday before the 2012 Olympics we were guests of His Excellency Dr João de Vallera, the Portuguese Ambassador to the Court of St James, at his official residence, wherein we had two bottles of Port from each summer-Olympic year, 1948 to 2008.

Mature umami nose, good chewy texture, juicy red liquorice, classic taylor heat and bite. fruit perhaps starting to fade, but great port in great drinking window. Classy **** (92)

TV76 (mine): lovely dark red, 50% opaque. Taste light, slightly hot, very long and lovely, though only mid weight. Fruit rather faded. Drink now, with pleasure.
