Tuesday 4th September - The Bunghole

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

I have to be in London on Tuesday 4th September and am starting to suffer fom symptoms of Port deprivation. Would anyone care to help supervise my cure?

Normal rules apply:
Place - The Bunghole
Time - about 6:30pm
Bring - a bottle of vintage dated port wrapped in tinfoil
Theme - a blind tasting that makes us all look foolish

If you'd care to join me, please speak up!
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I now have permission from the Supreme Commander Port-Drinking Forces Lambeth, as she has become and is soon to be renamed, and so am pleased to accept your invitation.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to keep September fairly dry, so I don't think I'll be able to attend. Sorry.

Updated draft of the placemats.
  • I couldn’t decide, so I decided.
  • And seven glasses, with 12 point L/R/B margins and 18 point top, because

I have increased the circle diameters to the maximum possiblen through sacrifice of margin widths while maintaining a single producer per page. I have tested at home and these fit ISO glasses with ease, and *just* accomodate the Riedels sufficiently. If anyone attending TBH in the near future were able to print a page of these and confirm that this is usable with their glasses it would be appreciated; I realise that an extra such visit to TBH will be a severe trial :990033:

Would you also be able to print? I'll have no access to a printer until Thursday.

I can print. First to do so (on Tuesday, to allow further changes) to post that done.

This requirement was in mind when my new home printer was chosen a Samsung ML-2955DW.

I'll update the placemats, but will make it two pages of four. So I’ll try to remember to print a page of your draft for Mon 24th.

By request from the producer (to allow time to settle) the third half bottle is now reserved for a future tasting (together with two others, should my weight llowance be sufficient).

Apologies for any disappointment caused in the short term

Printed, though the margins were too small for the printer used. :-(
