1986 Niepoort Colheita bottled 2010
On Tuesday 18th September 2012 some of the obvious suspects gathered in the Bung Hole, for company and entertainment, and to taste some Ports, including several samples of Sandeman Vau.

Bottled 2010 in a dumpy bottle; Fortnum & Mason BOB label. Pale orange, the colour of barley sugar, 10% opaque. Lemon grass on the nose, smelling rather acidic. Neutral and hollow entry but grows pleasantly on the palate to deliver delicate clover honey and lemon. Hot aftertaste with a sour gooseberry finish of good length. Very light and fragrant. The aftertaste is the best feature of the port, but this is not a port to my taste. 84/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

liked this a lot. Still a fairly straight forward Colheita with not too much complexity; but very balanced and good long aftertaste. Very nice indeed. This may have also benefited on the night due to its round composure. Most ports we had were rather sharp and a bit unbalanced in the one or another form.
