Post by PhilW »

On Monday 24th September 2012, several members of TPF met at TBH for a dual mini-vertical of Warre's and Fonseca ports of the same years.

Modest red colour, lighter rim; 40% opaque. Empty on the nose, virtually nothing showing, just a slight grapiness. Modest entry, restrained attack. Pleasantly sweet but with a lovely honey flavoured acidity providing support. Good balance to the gently perfumed falvours. Lightly flavoured aftertaste and finish. A very pleasant palate making a nice wine, but still one which will improve with more time in the cellar. 89/100. Decanted 8½ hours
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

W77, decanted 11am. Dark red, 40% opaque. Light nose. Palate very light, with acid late. Otherwise good. (Clearly I had been overcome by late-evening brevity.)
