Pitch black and opaque. Big on the nose, full of scents of blackcurrants. Hollow entry, slow to develop on the palate but then generous tannisn seize the cheeks and release the wonderful floral essence and dry blackcurrant. The finish is long, peppery and full of dry cocoa. This bottle comes across as an elegant style of wine rather than the normal Vesuvio powerhouse. 87/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
