1966 Warre vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Orange / red in colour, slightly cloudy; by eye, this is a colheita or 20 yo tawny. But mature fruit on the nose, slightly hot, and with lots of raisins in syrup. On the palate this brings sweet and slightly sugary flavours, with caramelised fruit and burnt raisins. Hot on the aftertaste, with a long finish of burnt raisin. Served blind, this was guessed to be Royal Oporto 1985. 81/100. Drunk 04-Sep-12. Decanted 6 hours.

W66, cloudy, brown-orange. Nose had aniseed but no fruit. Taste: lovely texture. Again, no fruit. Some aniseed at the start. Past its best, but drinkable.
