1963 Offley

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

1963 Offley Boa Vista vintage port
Light russet-red colour; quite pale and looking well evolved; 30% opaque. Delightful nose, fragrant and with sweet fruit. Delightful fruit on entry, with a dry and slightly bitter core and a fierce acidity. Delicious, long finish. This is very fine port, drying out slightly but with great finesse. 86/100. Drunk 05-Dec-12, on a pop and pour basis.

Drunk as part of the Eclectic offline on 5th December 2012 at the Bunghole, Holborn.
Borges Muito Velho
Ramos Pinto 1959 colheita (bottled 1973)
Smith Woodhouse 1983
Porto Cabral 1940 white colheita

Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

i wonder if the fierce acidity can be attributed to bottle variation. My bottle certainly had the drying component but was very well balanced.
