1970 Sandeman

Post by Chris Doty »

What a way to start a saturday afternoon in December!

Busy day ahead, but a glass of this sets a mighty pace. If 'cool, spiced crannbery' means anything to anyone, shout a holla for the kid. There is a bit of light heat on the nose, but I attribute all of this and more to its just recently having been rudely ripped from its delivery egg and stood up and uncorked and decanted through steel. Will obviously revisit

In the mouth, a perfect amount of cloyingness. Enough to let it show you some love, but still knows you need some space. Mid palate cruises at a medium_plus rate, not pretending to be a blockbuster, but giving stable joy throught.

Finish is syrupy-good, with a sweet kick more reminiscent of sweet Bordeaux (structurally, of course), than I've associated with vintage port.

If the mixed case lives up to this level, I'll have a happy Xmas indeed.

93 points now...and room to run
