1963 Ferreira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, pink rim, 90% opaque. Spicy and fragrant nose; very lively, quite dry and perfumed. Elegant and gentle entry, quite a thick texture. Flavour on the mid palate described as cherry liquor by one taster—quite correctly. Lighter bodied than the ’66 Ferreira drunk at lunch, fairly straightforward. Terrifically long aftertaste, sweet and concentrated with fruit and muscvado sugar. 88/100. 13-Jun-12. Decanted 3 hours.

Fr63. Dark red, 50% opaque. Taste mid to light. Initially unctuous, with heat late-palate. Very soft and lovely, but lighter than perfect. AB: ‟cherry syrup”.
