N87. though served blind as both ‟Single Left” and as ‟#5”.

Dark red, 50% opaque. Nose a bit stinky, which also showed on the palate. Dark fruit, probably plum. Weight medium, perhaps medium-minus.

An unreleased vintage, whose cork was branded "Silval 1987". Deep red, showing a little maturity but still firm on the rim; 70% opaque. Generous levels of fruit on the nose, quite sharp but attractive. Dusty tannins show on the palate; a little thin and slightly lightweight with a pleasant dustiness coming through the sharp cranberry fruit. Cranberries linger on the aftertaste and finish. Tasty port, but still too young. 87/100. Drunk 15-Feb-13. Decanted 3 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
