To hand are Warre LBVs from 1981, 1982, 1984 and 1986. This suggests a plan. One 1986 has been tasted.

Who? When?

I would be very keen. They have always showed extremely well when I have had the chance.

Between us, with no extra purchasing, we have at least eight. That’s not shabby.

How about we do a Warre vs. Warre LBV tasting and compare the LBVs with Vintages from (approx.) the same year? Should not be that more expensive and very educative, I suppose.

We have ten LBVs already. If this is to be a big formal 20+ bottle thing, yes. But I’d prefer an informal LBV tasting, perhaps with just two or three near-matching VPs.

Perfect idea. As the date prior to the bft might be good to go. Shall we plan on having this then?

I would happily contribute my LBV 74 and check if I have a 2000. Futhermore I would suggest to include 1970 or 77, 85, 94 and 2000.

Do you have these, or are you suggesting we find them somewhere?

This is rapidly changing from an informal "throw in a bottle or two of LBV" tasting into something that will require financial balancing to be performed by the organiser. If that is what is intended, fine. If not, the organiser should define the boundaries.

Yes, but in the light of comments received. My plan was a few Warre LBVs, not very formal. Mine didn’t cost me much, so seemed a good start.

Understood. I'll start looking for a Warre 1927.

Currently we are six people and ten Warre LBVs. Even if two are over-mature, that could be a splendid evening.

I can make that 6 / 11 with a confirmed Warre 2000 LBV, as well as potential to supplement some of the others already on offer.

So we have people and Port, but not a date. When?

Edit: Axel, above, suggested immediately prior to the BFT.

Londoners tend to be more organised and enthusiastic than our New York cousins. So it might be best for us to proceed, and if you can do the same date, that’s splendid. (And please could NY do so in a separate thread, for administrative simplicity.)

With those I meant the Vintages of Warre for educative/ comparison reasons.

Any objections to the Warre LBVs happening on Tuesday 23rd April 2013, that being, of course, the day of VP-lovers’ favourite saint? As well as being the day before the BFT.

With Calem tasting cancelled/postponed, I find myself staying overnight in London on Apr 23rd with a serious risk of thirst...

what's this "or" rubbish? ;D

I could bring any of 82/84/86 LBV and/or 77/83/85 VP if doing VP as well.
