Re: 20Y Niepoort Tawny, bottled 2008

Ni 20Y, bottled 2008, though served blind as both ‟Moist Right” and as ‟#6”.

Red, 25% opaque. Some stink on the nose. Taste not liked, because too acidic.

No idea what it was.

Bottled 2008. Crystal clear, brick orange; 30%. Smelly on the nose with some bottle stink. Soft oranges on the palate with a little gentle spiciness and surprising tannins on the teeth. The flavours grow pleasantly on the palate. A big, dry orange finish which gently fades to a kumquat peel essence. 85/100. Drunk 15-Feb-13. Decanted 3 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
