1963 Dow vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

D63: dark red, 60% opaque. Medium to light weight. Lots of early palate, but not mid palate. Plum like several others ports at the table. Though delicious, this was the lightest port at the table. JDAW, January 2013

Mature red colour, deep centre; 80% opaque. Hot spiced compote on the nose, very open and very attractive. Concentrated acidity on the palate with a burnt raisin and sharp cranberry. Lovely fruit finish of terrific length with distinct strawberries. 92/100. 10 hour decant.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
