1978 Krohn Colheita (bottled 2010)

Post by jdaw1 »

Oscar visited London, so the team sampled some VPs and some stuff described as ‟brown sticky stuff”. Some were served sighted, some were blind.

Kr78c. Stinky flavour that I didn’t like. Perhaps a duff bottle, perhaps a duff taster.

Bottled 2010. Honey colour, pale green or yellow on the rim. Honeyed nose, lots of almond paste. Medium in texture, quite thick. Very acidic with lots of grapefruit juice and burnt sugar. Slow to develop on the palate but patience does flow through. Big, meaty aftertaste and finish. Fine colheita. 90/100.

I am rather worried that either I or JDAW managed to swap our glasses of 1978 Krohn and 1952 Niepoort around. Oh well, likely we'll never know unless someone else has notes they can post!
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
